Preparation and Post Wax Process

There are a few simple steps you can take before and after your waxing to ensure you receive minimal discomfort. While waxing is a common, safe and effective beauty procedure, some of us are simply more sensitive to the process than others. Pre-wax care can also make the procedure more efficient, allowing you to receive a superior finish!

Before Wax Care

At least 24 hours before your appointment, we recommend a gentle exfoliation of the area. Using a mild scrub, mitt or loofah, carefully clean and exfoliate the area to be waxed. This will rid your skin of all the dead cells that often build up around the hair follicles. Exfoliation can help with issues like ingrown hairs too, loosening them up in preparation for your waxing and improving your results. We also recommend wearing loose fitting clothing to your appointment. It’s important to wear clothes that are comfortable and won’t rub up against the area after waxing.

After Wax Care

Directly after your face or body waxing, you may notice some reddening of your skin or the appearance of small, raised bumps. This will usually resolve itself within an hour or two, however, if you wish to speed up the recovery process there are some simple things you can do at home. Intermittently applying a cold compress or just a few pieces of ice inside a clean towel can help with the irritation. Soothing lotions, such as aloe vera based products, can also be used, although we’d recommended not to touch the area too much. Cold water (or a cool shower) is often a safer option to soothe the sensitive area, and doesn’t contain any perfumes or scents that may cause further irritation.
